dc.description.abstractFrom time immemorial human beings clothed themselves with woven materials. The beginning of handloom is unknown. However, it is an age-old tradition in India. Handloom is the pride of India’s culture and tradition. This skill passed on from generation to generation still continues. The handloom products of India have a unique place in the world from ancient times to till today. It flourished in India especially with royal patronage. Every village in India had a weaver. This once flourished sector had a great turning point during the British period. This paper gives an overview of the handloom sector.
